7 Most-Asked Questions About Women’s Communities — Answered

Seasons Women Team · September 14, 2026 ·

Finding your people as an adult can be surprisingly hard.

Our lives are constantly changing. We graduate, move, get married, become mothers, change careers, start businesses, experience loss, enter new relationships, watch our children grow, or simply realize that the friendships we once had no longer fit the season we’re in.

The good news? More women are actively looking for meaningful community — both online and in real life.

If you’ve ever searched “How do I make friends as an adult?” or “Where can I meet women like me?” you’re definitely not the only one.

Here are seven of the most common questions women ask about finding friendship, support, and community.

1. What are the best platforms for joining a supportive women’s community online?

The best platform depends on what kind of connection you’re looking for.

Some communities focus on professional networking, while others are built around motherhood, wellness, hobbies, entrepreneurship, fertility, dating, or major life transitions.

The most important thing is finding a community where you feel comfortable being yourself — not one where you feel like you have to curate another version of your life.

Seasons Women was created around that idea: giving women a place to connect based on the season of life they’re actually experiencing and find friendships, support, events, and conversations that can extend beyond simply following each other online.

2. How do I find local women’s groups and events near me?

Start with your interests rather than simply searching for “women’s groups.”

Look for local book clubs, fitness classes, networking events, volunteer opportunities, mom groups, pickleball leagues, workshops, running clubs, creative classes, or community events.

You can also use online communities to make that first introduction before meeting in person.

Sometimes the hardest part isn’t finding an event — it’s walking into a room where you don’t know anyone. Connecting with even one person beforehand can completely change that experience.

3. Where can women entrepreneurs find a supportive community?

Entrepreneurship can be exciting, but it can also be incredibly isolating.

Look for communities where women can talk openly about the parts of building a business that don’t always make it onto social media: figuring out what works, making mistakes, balancing family and work, finding customers, managing money, hiring, growing, and occasionally wondering what on earth you’re doing.

A great entrepreneurial community shouldn’t just give you contacts. It should give you women you can learn from, collaborate with, celebrate with, and call when things get hard.

And don’t underestimate friendships outside your industry. Sometimes your best ideas and connections come from women building something completely different from you.

4. How do you make new friends as an adult?

Start smaller than you think.

You don’t need to find your new best friend tomorrow. Your first goal can simply be having one good conversation.

Say yes to the invitation. Introduce yourself at the workout class. Message the woman whose story resonates with you. Invite someone to coffee. Join the group even if you don’t know anyone yet.

Most importantly, follow up.

Adult friendships rarely happen by accident. Someone usually has to be willing to say, “I really enjoyed talking to you — want to grab coffee sometime?”

Be that person.

5. What if I feel like I don’t fit into my current friend group anymore?

This is more common than we talk about.

Friendships can change when life changes. One woman may be raising babies while another is dating. Someone may be completely focused on her career while her friend is stepping away from work. One person may be navigating fertility struggles, divorce, grief, an empty nest, a new city, or an entirely new chapter.

It doesn’t necessarily mean your old friendships have to end.

It may simply mean you need to add to your circle.

You can love the women who have known you for years while also making room for women who understand who you’re becoming.

6. How can I find women going through the same life stage as me?

Be specific about what you need right now.

Maybe you’re looking for women who are trying to conceive. Maybe you’re a new mom who desperately wants adult conversation. Maybe you’re single in your 30s or 40s. Maybe your kids just left for college. Maybe you’re starting over after divorce, building a company, moving somewhere new, or becoming a grandmother for the first time.

These aren’t just demographics.

They’re seasons — and sometimes being able to say, “Me too,” to another woman is exactly what we need.

That’s one of the reasons I created Seasons Women: to make it easier for women to find people who understand where they are right now, while still creating opportunities to connect with women in completely different chapters too.

7. Are online women’s communities actually worth joining?

They can be — when they’re built around real connection rather than simply more content to consume.

A good online community should make you feel less alone, not give you another feed to scroll.

It should introduce you to people you wouldn’t otherwise meet, make it easier to ask questions, create opportunities to learn from one another, and ideally lead to relationships that exist beyond the screen.

Online connection doesn’t have to replace real-world friendship.

It can be the beginning of it.

Finding Your People Doesn’t Have an Expiration Date

We often talk about making friends as though it’s something we’re supposed to figure out in school or our early twenties.

But women continue changing throughout their entire lives.

And when you change, the community you need may change too.

You are allowed to meet new people at 30.

At 40.

At 50.

At 70.

You are allowed to have lifelong friends and brand-new friends.

You are allowed to realize that you’re in a different season and need people who understand it.

And you don’t have to wait for community to magically find you.

Sometimes finding your people begins with one small decision:

Put yourself in the room. Start the conversation. Say hello first.

Looking for your people?

Seasons Women was created to help women connect through every season of life — from motherhood and fertility to friendships, careers, entrepreneurship, wellness, loss, new beginnings, and everything in between.

Because no matter what season you’re in, you shouldn’t have to navigate it alone.

Find your season. Find your people.
